Other Music Documentary & Vinyl Nation Documentary Streaming Rental!

This Saturday would have been Record Store Day and while we are bummed we can’t see all of your beautiful faces we still wanted to celebrate with you somehow! We are participating in the digital release of two documentaries about vinyl and record stores and the community they create worldwide and on a local level! We will be posting links to two movies “Other Music NYC Documentary” and “Vinyl Nation” that you can rent for a small price. Percentages of all rental sales support us and the filmmakers! The info and trailers to both films are listed below. Both documentary links will be posted Friday and will be available for a short amount of time for your viewing pleasure.

Other Music Documentary:
Other Music was an influential and uncompromising New York City record store that was vital to the city’s early 2000s indie music scene. But when the store is forced to close its doors due to rent increases, the homogenization of urban culture, and the shift from CDs to downloadable and streaming music, a cultural landmark is lost. Through vibrant storytelling, the documentary captures the record store’s vital role in the musical and cultural life of the city, and highlights the artists whose careers it helped launch including Vampire Weekend, Animal Collective, Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, William Basinski, Neutral Milk Hotel, Sharon Van Etten, Yo La Tengo and TV On The Radio.
