YOU GUYS! It’s hard to believe but ye olde Vertical House Records is turning FIVE! For the last half of the decade we’ve been thrilled to provide Huntsville with a vinyl shop and show spot. To celebrate, on Monday April 23rd is we are having a grand re-opening show/party featuring Peach Kelli Pop (Awesome Girl Pop Punk from Ottowa Canada), The Porcharitas (it’s their record release show for their debut 7″ on Vertical House Records), and local singer/songwriter Sam McLeroy! Please join us for good times and good tunes!!
Show starts around 8pm and admission is $6!
We are thrilled to be participating in Record Store Day 2012 on April 21st! We will be open from 11-6pm. Come early for best chances of getting the items you want because quantities are VERY limited. One copy per person on each title, no holds or reserves. Feel free to email or call with any questions: 256-658-2976 or verticalhouse@gmail.com. Please note: we have moved from the 2nd floor to a building off of the south side of the dock (Railroad Room #3). See map below.

Hot damn Summer is nigh! Time to fire up the grill, crank the stereo, and grab a cold one! Thankfully we’ve got something that can take care of two out of three of the above! Vertical House Records is thrilled to announce our second release is out! “Get Wasted With The Porcharitas” is the debut 7 inch from Huntsville’s very own The Porcharitas! This first pressing is limited to 500 (100 on white vinyl and 400 on black). The white vinyl versions are only available in our record store (2211 Seminole Drive, Railroad Room #3) and at theporcharitas.com. The record comes with a download code and a special insert that you’ll love trying out! We are super thankful for our friends that helped make this possible! Recording by Dustin Timbrook. Cover art by Travis T. Swag by Nico.

In case you hadn’t heard we are expanding our shop! Starting today (while we are still open) we will be begin moving the 20,000 some odd records and 45s along with the everything else we’ve accumulated over the last five years. Our new home is still at Lowe Mill, in one of the “railroad rooms” that run along the South side of the dock. It’s actually accessible from either parking lot.
We are expanding the store from 900 square feet to 1600 square feet! Which means more room for records, friends, turntables, comics, bands, and more! Please note that we will not be closing in order to move the store, so don’t worry about that! If you have any trouble finding us, give Andy a ring at 256-658-2976!

Come by Vertical House Records anytime between now and February 17th to enter to win tickets to the upcoming show at Crossroads with R.RING (Kelley Deal of The Breeders & Mike Montgomery of Ampline), Jerry DeCicca (of The Black Swans) and Huntsville’s own Amy McCarley. The show is Monday February 20th! Winners will be emailed and there names will be put on the guest list (you must bring a valid ID to get into the show).

We’ve had another exciting year here at Vertical House Records! Thanks to all of our friends and family for the love and support. We adore all of the audiophile Huntsvillians who we’ve met this past year…and of course all of our regulars. We are looking forward to 2012, as we will be expanding (yet again wahoo!) into a space double the size we have now. We will still be located on the Lowe Mill property, but in one of the “railroad car” rooms. Once we’ve moved in we’ll share a map so you’ll be able to locate us easily! Now let’s get to the music…
Here is our Best of 2011 list! We’d love to hear what your favorites are if you want to share in the comments. Happy New Year!!

It’s A Very Vertical House Christmas with The Pine Hill Haints
Thursday December 22nd @ 9pm
Admission $8 (or $7 with an ugly Christmas sweater)
We’ve always been huge fans of the Pine Hill Haints and it’s a shock that this is their first time playing in our store! We are glad to have such an awesome band to help close out 2011 and bring in the New Year.
Their newest album “Welcome To The Midnight Opry” was released on K Records this year, it is their third LP release with the Olympia, Washington label. You can listen to samples from the new release on the labels website.

We are very excited to announce the return of one of our favorite musicians to Vertical House — NOBUNNY!!! All the way from Oakland, California comes the fuzzy faced hare whose main objective is to get your ass shakin’ and have a good time!
He will be hitting the stage after one of Huntsville’s own group of cuties, The Porcharitas! Their fast paced pop punk always gets the crowd to their feet!
Festivities begin around 9pm! Potluck food encouraged!
Admission $8
